Woman in Leadership

Experttech Launches New Flagship Programme: Women in Leadership (WIL)

WIL’s Purpose Statement
To equip women with skills, expertise and networks to transform organisations, families, communities and ultimately nations.

Key Topics
- The Leader Within - Women in Business Leadership - The Glass Ceiling - Women & Diversity - Strategy - Style & Personal Branding - Women’s Only

WIL Panel Member Workshops
Workshops took place in June 2013 in Pretoria, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.

  • The WIL Team of Experttech certainly lived up to its WIL CREDO of “Called for such a time as this” according to the invited guests - the esteemed Panel Members.
The Panelists, comprising selected experienced and professional women from across the business sectors, attended the WIL Pilot Workshops. Their participation and engagement during the workshops has been documented in a report. A reflection of honesty and sincerity based on their life and world-of-work experiences is being incorporated in the relevant WIL Modules.

Views of the Panelists included the following comments:

  • The WIL Programme is invaluable and applicable in Leadership Development for emerging leaders.
  • The content of the WIL Programme is relevant, appealing, inspirational and well balanced, with valuable research that produced the WOW – Wisdom, Worth and Wonder factor!
  • The facilitation was excellent and delivered with passion and inspiration and provided freedom in a “safe space” to engage among colleagues.
  • An amazing programme that is needed in our current organisational culture and environment.

Overall, the WIL Programme was supported and welcomed by the Panelists as a Leadership Programme for emerging women leaders. It would serve as the foundation not only to help leaders grow and excel in their leadership capabilities in their organisations and the communities they serve, but also to empower and to inspire women in their leadership roles.

Like President Obama in his speech at UCT, the WIL Team believes in the following perspective:
"we support societies that empower women … because no country will reach its potential unless it draws on the talents of our wives and our mothers, and our sisters and our daughters … like much of Africa … you see women doing work and not getting respect... you can measure how well a country does by how it treats its women … “

We are sure that there are many “sisters” saying ‘Amen’ to that!

The final revisions to the book, “Assessment Centers and Global Talent Management”, by Nigel Povah and George C. Thornton III were submitted on the 28th September 2011 – right on schedule!

Experttech is proud to be associated with the leaders in the global Assessment field.
This publication, which will be released in November, covers a chapter written by Experttech Managing Director, Jan H van der Westhuizen, in partnership with Pretoria University Professor Deon Meiring.
Experiential Assessment Centres and the use of computer-based simulations are addressed in this chapter, which further reveals some of the work done by Experttech for their clients through the years.
The book provides unique insights into understanding the value of the assessment center method”, says Povah, Chairman, CEO and Founder of A&DC. New insights are revealed into how the assessment centre methodology has contributed to several aspects of talent management, including selection, promotion, diagnosis of developmental needs, developmental planning, and training. “We have illustrated again how research and practice support each other, how assessment centers contribute to attainment of organizational strategies, and how cross-cultural adaptations that can be made to this flexible method, yet maintain the integrity of its key elements.”
Assessment centres are alive and well and living in… all parts of the world!
This project took many months, but all contributors stayed on schedule and met several strict deadlines. The team appreciated the diligence by everyone in making revisions in a timely manner and all were proud of the result of this complex joint project!
Experttech conveys best wishes to all their colleagues in their professional careers in Assessment and Development Centres and reminds them to stay in touch. They look forward to meeting again in the near future – in person or in virtual reality.
